Did you know that March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (#DDAM2025)? This effort highlights how people with and without disabilities can come together to form strong communities. DDAM raises awareness of the inclusion and contributions of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life and serves as a time to explore the work still needed to remove barriers. Forsyth Public Library is proud to partner with MRI to promote awareness of people with developmental disabilities and to encourage our community to increase accessibility. We love having our friends from MRI visit the library and we look forward to "painting the town orange" in celebration!

3.14 is National Pi(e) Day! (Free pie at the Library) Friday, March 14 during regular hours while supplies last Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant Pi . It’s observed on March 14 since 3, 1, & 4 are the first three significant figures of Pi . That being said, we at the library are more interested in pie! Stop in for a free slice but be sure you don’t wait too long. Unlike this Pi, our pie isn’t infinite.

It was a crazy busy morning at FPL today - and we couldn't be happier! Our 5th grade friends from Maroa-Forsyth Grade School were in the library to present their Living Museum biography projects to family, friends and even their 4th grade classmates. FPL staff helped them learn how to search databases online for accurate information and find books that helped them fill in the details for their project. A special thanks to Mr. Leeper, Mr. Pond, Mrs. McCool and Mrs. Stevenson for their hard work putting today together! Our Story Time friends had fun with Miss Kelsey reading breakfast-themed books and creating their own cereal necklaces. We also had visits from DCS English classes to pick out a few titles from our used book sale (and take in a game of chess!). There's always something happening at FPL!

For those of you who have been waiting patiently, the FREE online Herald & Review is finally back! In February, the parent company of H&R was involved in a hacking incident resulting in continued problems with our online Newsbank access. Everything is now back to normal and you can start reading the Herald & Review for free again. Below are the instructions for access - but please feel free to stop or call the library if you need assistance. First, go the Forsyth Library’s website: www.forsythlibrary.com. On the toolbar at the top of the page, click on Resources. Then select Online Resources from the dropdown menu. The top option is Newsbank Herald & Review. Click on it. In the box, you will type your Forsyth Library card number. Then click enter. Select the second Herald & Review on the list. It should say that it’s 2022 - Current and under format will say Image. Then select the date of the issue you want to read. Once it loads, you can Zoom in to make the text the size that works best for you. Prefer a paper copy? Grab a cup of coffee from our free coffee bar and read the Herald & Review, Wall Street Journal, Decatur Tribune, State Journal Register, USA Today, Investor Business Daily and more in the library.
