The excitement is here! Chick-fil-A Forsyth-Decatur opens Thursday, September 10 at 6:30 a.m., and we know many people throughout the area are looking forward to opening day.

With a large number of visitors expected during the first several days, the Village has been working with Chick-fil-A, IDOT and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office on a temporary traffic plan to help keep vehicles moving and maintain access to neighboring businesses and residential areas.

A few important things to know:

🚗 If you are traveling north on Route 51 to Chick-fil-A, please use the OUTSIDE turn lane onto Barnett Avenue. The inside turn lane will remain available for traffic accessing Hickory Point Mall and other businesses.

🚗 If you are coming from the north on Route 51, you will be merged into the designated Chick-fil-A traffic line.

🚦 Please do not block intersections, driveways or business entrances. If there isn’t room to completely clear an intersection, please wait before proceeding.

📱 Chick-fil-A will also have a Mobile Order Only lane for guests who order ahead.

👮 Please watch for temporary signage and follow directions from law enforcement and traffic-control personnel.

For our nearby residents: If you live in the neighborhoods behind Chick-fil-A, you may find it easier to use Lucile Avenue or the outside loop around Hickory Point Mall to avoid some of the opening traffic.

Most importantly, this traffic plan is temporary. It is intended to help everyone navigate the initial opening rush, and we will continue to monitor traffic and make adjustments if needed.

 We are excited to welcome Chick-fil-A and its team to Forsyth, and we appreciate everyone's patience, cooperation and good humor as we get through what we expect will be a very busy few days!
